I answered the question : Can you build a nuclear power plant in Holland or Spain, why or why not?

If you want to build a nuclear power plant, you have to look at :

  • Is the area high populated? In case of a radioactive release.
  • Are the people in the area opposed to the plant?
  • Are there earthquakes? Just to be sure that it does not collapse.
  • Are there roads with good condition? For trucks to bring large components during construction.
  • Is there enough cooling water? Used for the turbine condenser.
  • Is there a main grid power line? To get energy for the machines.

Now you can see if an area is suitable for a nuclear power plant :

Netherlands:

  • It is high populated, so you have to search for a place were it isn't high populated.
  • That's to the people around the area.
  • There are'nt large earthquakes, so it is possible.
  • The roads are mostly in good condition, so that's also possible.
  • That depends on the area. But if there isn't enough, you can transport it.
  • There are 2 power grids in the Netherlands ; one of 220.000 volt and one of 380.000 volt. So probably you'll have one at that area.
  • Conclusion : Most of the points are possible, so you can build a nuclear power plant in the Netherlands.

Spain:

  • It's not high populated, so it is easy to look for an area which isn't high populated.
  • That's to the people around the area.
  • There are eartquakes, but not many and they're not heavy.
  • The most roads are in good condition, so it's possible.
  • Depends on the area, but if there isn't enough, you can transport it.
  • it has the fifth largest electricity market in Europe, so the area will have grid power lines.
  • Conclusion : Most of the points are possible, so you can build a nuclear power plant in Spain.
