This is the project from Moises, Necmettin and Joep. Wind power is the production of energy in a green way. So without any kind of pollution. Wind power is generated by large wind turbines which rotate when there is wind coming their way. By this the turbines rotate which generate electricity.

Necmettin

Necmettin Kaplan Generating Electricity Wind Power.

Introduction: Wind Power is the production of energy in a green way, so without any kind of pollution against the nature. Wind power is generated by large wind turbines which rotate when there is wind coming their way, by this the turbines rotate which generate electricity. This is how a wind turbine looks from the inside:

It works similarly the same like a dynamo on a bike but this one is much larger.

Questions:

1. How does it work?

2. Where can you find plants of this source and why?

3. Can it be used in The Netherlands or in Spain? Why/why not?

4. What is the effect on the environment?

Answers:

1. This is how it works:

Howdoesitwork.gif

When there is wind in the direction of the wind turbine (which is how they are mostly placed, they're placed in such a position so they face the wind and the blades can rotate), the turbine blades rotate which spin the shaft that drives the generator, now electricity is generated. Then it goes from the inverter to the mains power, battery bank or an electricity grid.

2. They're mostly placed in big fields Or in the water in the sea. They're always 300 meters away from houses because they make a lot of noise and people don't want that. Here you see how much noise a wind turbine makes.

3. They can be used in The Netherlands and they're still being used a lot. They're also used in Spain but not a lot, in Spain they use more Solar power. Because there is a lot of sun in Spain and not a lot of wind.

4.It doesn't effect the environment WHEN it's generating electricity, but it does when you have to build a wind turbine. In order to build wind turbines, materials must be mined, manufactured , processed and transported as with all conventional power plants.

Wind power generates electricity with...

-No air radiation

-No fuel to mine, transport, or store

-No cooling water

-No water pollution

-No wastes

Wind power can reduce pollution generated by fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and gas.

Moises

-How can we generate electricity by wind power?

-How does it work?

- It´s works because the wind power have turbines and the wind move the turbines and the turbines do electricity.

-Where can you find plants of this source and why?

-We can find it in the coast, up the mountains and in parts where are wind.

-Can be used in the Netherlands or in Spain, Why?/Why not?

- In Spain are so much plants of wind power. For example : In Navarra the most electricity of Navarra is produce for the wind power. In the Netherlands are because are many wind.

-What is the effect on the enviroment?

-They kill many birds and is very ugly to see in the enviroment.

Joep

How can we generate electricity by wind power?

How does it works?

How can you generate energy by using wind power? When air moves quickly, just like wind. The motion of air can be captured, like we do with other sources for example with water.

Let´s take the example of a wind- electric turbine. The blades of a turbine are made to catch the wind. When the blades catch wind energy, they start moving around. The blades spin a shaft. That shaft leads to a generator. That generator turns the energy, which is rotated, into energy. It´s all about transferring energy from one medium into another.

Where can you find that kind of energy generators?

Most of the time you find them in rural areas. You also have wind farms. That are lots of wind turbines together in a sea. The largest ones you find in the USA and China. Because of the onshore wind.

4. What is the effect on the environment?

Wind turbines have some advantages and disadvantages. Like to the nature or to the humans. Here are some examples:

-Disadvantages:

-They kill birds

-They produce a lot of sound

Noisenoise.jpg

-The landscape is more ugly

-Advantages:

-Generate a lot of energy in a short time

-The wind is free so it´s easy to produce

-Many people find wind farms an interesting feature of the landscape.
